Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 8 Apr 1957

Vern W. Utter, 78, of Ionia died about 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Jack Hopkins of Palo.  He had been suffering from a heart ailment
for two years.  He was born June 2, 1878 and Orange township, Ionia county, son
of Jackson and Dorcas Utter.  He was married September 14, 1904 in Ionia to Miss
Myrtie Randall.  They moved to Ionia from Matherton in 1942.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtie, four sons Howard and Raymond of Midland, Robert
and Russell of Palo; three daughters, Mrs. Glenn Hicks of Owosso, Mrs. Jack
Hopkins of Palo and Mrs. Lorena Laycock of Ionia; 23 grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren and a brother, Jake Wiggins of Orange township.

Funeral services will be held from the Myers funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2
p.m. with the Rev. Charles Warner of the Free Methodist church officiating. 
Interment will be in Tuttle Cemetery.
