Sept. 2, 1954 JESUS VALADEZ KILLED SUNDAY Jesus Valadez 24 was pronounced dead on admittance at the Ionia Memorial Hospital, early Sunday morning following a fatal stabbing affray near his home about 12:45 a.m. He has been a resident here for the past 1 1/2 years coming her form Texas and was employed by the Canning Company. The family lived in one of the apartments of the company's cement block housing project near the factory. Paul Gonzales who was visiting his parents notified deputy Clarence Aldrich but the injured man had been taken to the hospital when he arrived at the scene. Surviving are his wife Gregoria, two daughters Janie and Gloria at home; four sisters, one brother and his mother all in Mexico. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Edwards church with burial in lakeside cemetery. Rev. Fr. Stephen Kolenic officiated HOLD FOUR IN FATAL STABBING Four Mexican migratory workers were Tuesday being held by Michigan State Police at Saginaw in connection with the knife slaying of Jesus Valadez, in Lake Odessa. Valadez was killed Saturday night at a migratory worker's dance following an argument with an unknown assailant, who also stabbed and wounded a second man. Manuel Vadena, in the chest and back. Undersheriff Peter VanVleck and Detective Wayne Jussila from the Lansing State Police post Tuesday were in Saginaw to question the four being held for investigation on open charge. Sheriff's authorities said State Police have in their possession the knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing. The knife presumably was undergoing tests for traces of blood stains. U.S. Immigration and naturalization officials were called into the investigation Sunday after Valadez died enroute to the Ionia county Memorial Hospital.
