HELEN CAROLINE (LOBDELL) VANAELST

Died April 8th, 2026. 
Born in Rose Lake, Osceola, MI. daughter of Fred & Gladys Lobdell.
Raised in Saranac, Ionia Co., Michigan on a 80 acre farm.
Graduated from Saranac High School.
Preceded in death by her parents, son William Hoadley & sisters, Adah B.Ione & 
Hazel.
Helen was a strong-willed woman that found joy in a good book, in the rhythm of 
her crochet hook & in the simple magic of a home-cooked meal.
In her youth she loved to sing, dance & lose herself in live music.
A special thanks to the ladies at the Kent District Library that would carefully 
choose books based on her interest for her reading pleasure in her immobile 
years.
Survived by her large family, Children: Cynthia Venlos, Andrew Hoadley (Deb), 
Kathleen Dahlke (Danny), David Hoadley (Nora), John VanAelst & Luann Bush.
Grandchildren: William Venlos, Nicole Venlos, Cythena Hoadley, Marissa 
Vandenberg(Cliff),David Hoadley (Casey), Charlotte Kufera (Daniel), Shirley 
Wadell (Kenny), Brianna Rexford (Austin), Sarah Hoadley (Sam), Catie Hoadley, 
Aaron Hoadley, Kali Van Aelst, Crispien VanAelst and Corey Van Aelst.
Great-Grandchildren:Nico, Alyssa, Landon, Nathan, Jordan,Maxwell, Jaxsen, Ren, 
CJ, Zoie, Bailey, Kayden, Colton, Jakub, Miles, Marley, Graham, Theodore, 
Warner, Clayton, McCoy, Olivia, Piper, Wyatt, Lily and James. 
Plus Great-Great- Grandchildren, Addison and Magnolia.
Private family graveside services to take place May 2, 2026 at 11:00 am at 
Highland Park Cemetery.
Celebration of Life to follow at Hager Park on June 7th 2026.
