Retired Teacher Dies at Rogers City

Services for Lowell Van Antwerp, retired science teacher in the Detroit public 
schools, were held Friday at the Ross B. Northrop & Son Funeral Home, 22401 
Grand River.

Mr. Van Antwerp, 79, of Detroit died Tuesday in Rogers City Hospital.

He taught at Southwestern High, Redford High and Nelson Junior High.

He had also taught at Lake Odessa High School in the 1920's and lived in lake 
Odessa at that time with his mother.

Mr. Van Antwerp attended Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, 
Ferris Institute, Western Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University.

He was past president of the Don M. Dickinson Stamp Club; a former director of 
Troop 56 Boy Scouts; past president of the Legislative committee, junior high 
division, Detroit, public schools and past president of the Men's Club of 
Redford United Methodist Church. He also was a trustee, counselor and Sunday 
School teacher at the church.

Burial was in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
