VanBruggen, beloved and cherished wife of Pete, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004. She died at home with her husband and mother by her side after a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Sheri was born in Ann Arbor, on Sept. 26, 1968. Her brother Matthew preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Pete of Kalamazoo; her parents Ronald and Mary Waterloo of Byron Center; five sisters, Kristi (Loren) Washburn of Hamilton, Julie (Steve) Guthrie of St. Andrews, Scotland; Laurie (Robert) Nordstrom of Bangkok, Thailand; Carrie (Ken) Krause of Grand Rapids, and Betsy (Jaime) Ventura of Canton; three nieces and five nephews. In 1990, Sheri graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hope College with a degree in Special Education- Learning Disabilities. She loved and nurtured many special students at Jefferson Elementary School in Ionia, until 1995 when she chose to retire. On Jan. 18, 1997, Pete and Sheri were married in Kalamazoo, where they resided for the rest of their joyous life together. They were actively involved at Richland Bible Church where they were lovingly cared for by their church family. Sheri enjoyed drawing, writing, poetry, drying flowers, quilting and gardening. She found joy in sharing these gifts with others. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley, Estes & Dowdle Richland Chapel, 9170 East D. Avenue (M-89), Richland. Memorial services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Richland Bible Church, 8643 Gull Road, Richland. Sheri’s family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) International, 10 West Dry Creek Circle, Littleton, Colo. 80120-4413.
