Vance, 67, of 11253 Nickleplate Road, Pewamo, died Sept. 7 at a St. Johns nursing home. Born Nov. 17, 1923, in Easton township, she was the daughter of Charles and Ruth Douglas Hawley. She was a graduate of Ionia High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was successively employed by Ionia County National Bank, Central National Bank of Pewamo, and Federal Mogul Credit Union in St. Johns, and she and her husband owned and operated the Maple River Campground near Matherton. Surviving are her husband Philip; two sons, Larry Vance of Phoenix, Ariz., and William Vance of Pewamo; two daughters, Beth Trierweiler of Eagle and Connie Holben of DeWitt; four grandchildren; a brother, Darryl Hawley of Detroit; and a sister, Mary Scott of Ionia. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from Hull Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Otis of the Lyons-Muir Church officiating. Cremation will follow, with committal later in East Plains Cemetery.
