Vance, 76, of Lyons died Friday morning at 11:30 at his home. He had been in ill health for several years. He was born November 7, 1877 in Orleans the son of George and Emma Vance. He moved with his family to a farm east of Lyons at the age of 15 and has lived in the Lyons area for 60 years. Mr. Vance retired in 1940 after 38 years of service as a rural mail carrier. He attended schools in Orleans and Lyons. September 1902 he was married to Elizabeth Blackmer of Pewamo who preceded him in death in 1935. His only daughter, Mildred Vance Bonner, died in 1943. He was a member of the Lyons Methodist church, Lyons lodge F. & A.M. and Lyons lodge R.A.M. Surviving are a son-in-law, Lyman S. Bonner and a granddaughter, Betty Bonner, who made their home with Mr. Vance; one brother Edward Vance of Route 3, Ionia and one sister, Mrs. Marie Sevey of Westfield, Mass. Funeral services will be conducted at his home in Lyons Monday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Park Newcombe of the Portland Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.
