The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, August 6, 1992

Corey N. Vance, 94, of Carson City, formerly of Pewamo died Monday.  He was 
born September 10, 1897, in Ionia County to Oscar and Clarissa Messer Vance.

He received a Masters Degree in Education from Central Michigan University, 
was a former superintendent of Mt. Pleasant Schools and a former Indian agent 
for the Chippewa Reservation in Mt. Pleasant.  

He married Elsie Thompson in 1921.  She preceded him in death in 1973.  He is 
survived by two sons, Calvin of Carson City and Jed of Hubbardston; 11 
grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, at 1 p.m. at the East Plains 
Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Rocker officiating.  Arrangements were made by 
Schnepp Funeral Home of Carson City.
