August 22, 1977 LEON EDWIN VANDE CAR LAKE ODESSA - Leon Edwin VandeCar, 75, of 156 Florence, Woodland, died Saturday at Ingham Medical center in Lansing following an extended illness. He was born in Berlin township, October 27, 1901, the son of Edwin and Mary Tusing VandeCar. A lifetime area resident, he had lived in Woodland for the past 36 years. Mr. VandeCar joined the U.S. Army September 4, 1920 and was stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri and Fort. Worden, Washington. He was employed at Oldsmobile for 15 years, retiring in 1965. He married the former Olive Laux in 1923 and was a member of the Woodbury United Methodist church. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Elton and Morris of Lansing, Calvin of Leslie, Larry of Alpena and Kenneth and Terry of Woodland; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Anderson of Woodland; Mrs. Leona Tressler of Coldwater and Mrs. Sandra Comp of Milford; one brother Clarence of Woodland; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Services are Tuesday at 2 pm from the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in Lake Odessa with Rev. Edgar Perkins officiating. Burial is in Woodland Memorial Park.
