Jan. 20, 1972 Services Held For David Vandecar David A. Vandecar, 30, Route 2, Lake Odessa, was killed Friday night when the truck he was driving struck the 85th car of a 102-car freight train at the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad crossing one-half mile west of Clarksville. Mr. Vandecar was born at Lake Odessa Oct. 1, 1941, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Chupp) Vandecar, and was a graduate of the 1959 class of Lake Odessa High school and Grand Rapids Junior College in 1961 from a two-year course. He was employed at the Keeler Brass Co. at Lake Odessa as a tool and die setter. David married Alice M. Davenstratt of Sunfield June 25, 1960, who survives with two sons, Brett Allen and David Jerry, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vandecar, and a sister, Mrs. Marlene DenHouten of Lake Odessa. Funeral service were held Monday at the Pickens funeral Chapel. Rev. Elwyn Dietrick officiated, with burial in lake side cemetery.
