Michael was born March 16, 1952 in Hasting's, MI to Kenneth and Marian (Bass) VanDenburg. He grew up in Freeport,MI and graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School in 1970. He served in the United States Army from May 1971 to May 1973 during the Vietnam War. He married the love of hi life Mary Alderink, Aug.30, 1975 and they built their life in Clarksville,MI. They were blessed with two daughters Beth and April. Most of his employment years were spent working at Buskirks Sawmill in Freeport, MI and then later at Quality Hardwoods in Sunfield, MI. Mike was a member of the Alto American Legion where he enjoyed participating in their many euchre tournaments. Mike's favorite place to be when not a home ws at his hunting cabin that he and his brother built on their grandmother's property. He loved spending as much time as possible outdoors hunting, fishing, looking for morel mushrooms and sitting around the campfire with his friends and family.He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather or"Bobo". He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary VanDenburg; daughters, Beth (Jonathan)MacKinney and April (Keegan) McManes; five grandchildren, Tyler,Spencer, Emma, Jameson, Harrison; brothers, Kenneth and Darrell (Bambi) VanDenburg; in-laws, Jim (Diane) Alderink, Lori (Bruce Stinson) Alderink and Amy (Brian Stinson) Alderink and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth VanDenburg and stepmother, Klasiena; mother Marian VanDenburg; brother, Terry VanDenburg; sister,Karen (Bill) Aspinall; sister-in-law, Nancy (Dennis) Winkler and nephew, Dennis Jr. (DJ) Winkler. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the loving caregivers at Elara Caring Hospice who cared for him and supported the family over the last couple of months. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Clarksville Bible Church.Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon.
