VanderHeyden died shortly before 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, after an illness of some weeks, following her return from Long Beach, Cal., where she spent part of the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Dr. A. H. Holladay. Mrs. VanderHeyden was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wood, whose home was near Detroit. Her father was a brick manufacturer, a business which her husband and her sons afterward followed. She married William H. VanderHeyden, one of Ionia county’s early settlers. He had established a brickyard here on West Main street, and later bought the old Thomas Cornell brickyard, which was sold to their son, Fred H. VanderHeyden in 1892. After this time Mr. VanderHeyden had a branch yard at Big Rapids for several years. He died here August 16, 1910, at the age of 74 years. Mr. and Mrs. VanderHeyden had four children, three of whom are now living—Ella M., now Mrs. H. B. Webber, Dora E., now Mrs. A. H. Holladay of Long Beach, Cal., and Fred H. VanderHeyden, who lives here and continues his father’s old business.
