Joyce A. VanDerVelde, aged 86, of Ionia, passed away Aug. 3, 2009.

She was born March 4, 1923, in Fenwick, Mich. the daughter of Raymond and 
Lelah (Towne) Christensen. Joyce married Frank White July 7, 1999. He preceded 
her in death Nov. 23, 2008. She was a member of Shiloh Community Church and a 
life member of the Women's Auxiliary.

Joyce is survived by children Carmen Hanratty of California, Marc (Irma) 
VanDerVelde of Wyoming, Barry (Catherine) VanDerVelde of Hudsonville, Raymond 
(Pat) VanDerVelde of Saranac and Allen (Sheila) VanDerVelde of Alabama; 5 
grandchildren; one-great-grandchild; stepchildren Frank (Pam) White of 
Nashville and Dave (Melinda) White of Grand Ledge; 3 step-grandchildren and 
two step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Hoyt Christensen of Ionia and Richard 
(Marilynn) Christensen of Alabama.  She was preceded in death by one brother, 
Lester.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community Church 
with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.

In lieu of flowers you may make memorial contributions to Shiloh Community 
Church or Ionia Area Hospice.
