Aug. 27, 1984 ROBERT G. VANDEVELDE MULLIKEN - Robert G. VanDeVelde, 65, of 375 Potter St., Mulliken, died unexpectedly at his residence Tuesday evening, Aug. 21. Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Ionia, he was the son of Frank and Florence Tully VanDeVelde. A veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, he was awarded the Purple heart. He was a home improvement contractor. Surviving are; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Nancy) Thomas of Grand Ledge; Karen VanDeVelde of North Glen, Colo.; two sons, Robert W. VanDeVelde of Lingo, Wyo.; and Ronald VanDeVelde of Sand Creek, Mich.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are; his mother, Mrs. Florence Abbruzzese of Mulliken; four sisters, Mrs. Francis Brewer of Ionia; Mrs. Jerry Bacon of Mulliken; Johanna Parshall and Jackie Bratschi, both of Grand Ledge; three brothers, Charles VanDeVelde of San Jose, Calif.; Frank Abbruzzese of Lansing and William Abbruzzese of Grand Ledge. Funeral services willbe 1 p.m. today (Monday) from the Barker-Leik funeral home, Mulliken, with the rev. Kevin Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
