VANDYKE
Helen M. TOWERSEY VANDYKE aged 89 of Ionia passed away January 7, 2020. She 
was born September 23 1930 in Ionia the daughter of Roy ad Iva (Sethfield) 
MOSSON. Helen graduated from lake Odessa High School. She married Jerry 
Towersey February 4, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1995. 

Helen taught school in several county schools the last being Dildine. She 
later taught 5th grade at Saranac Community Schools until her retirement in 
1985. She was a member of Easton United Methodist Church.

Helen met an old friend John VanDyke and they were married February 22, 1997.
He preceded her in death in 2002. After living in Grand Rapids for 6 years 
she moved back to Ionia to be closer to friends and family.

Surviving are her children; Jill (Larry) Hagen of Indiana, Kristie Rynd of 
Ionia and Michael (Karen) Towersey of Ionia. Grandchildren; Laurie (Heath) 
Gyger, Angie Ohlrich and Matt Brooks. Step-children; Sandy (Milt) Fenton and 
Randy (Joey) VanDyke. Step-daughter-in-law Clara VanDyke, Sister; Margaret 
"Peg" Cusack. Several Steep-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parent, husbands, Sisters; Jeanne Metzig, 
and Lillian VanWymen and Brother, Robert Mosson.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service at Easton 
United Methodist church, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020 with Pastor 
Donna Sperry officiating. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to services 
at the church. memorial contributions may be made to Easton Church United 
Methodist Women.
