Ionia Standard – Friday, 20 September 1889

John VanGeisen, one of the oldest and most respected settlers of the county, 
died at his home in Orleans Sunday, of old age, and was buried Monday at 2 
o’clock from his late residence, the interment being in the cemetery at 
Orleans Center.  Mr. VanGeisen was an octogenarian, being 80 years old at the 
time of his death.  He came to Michigan about 45 years ago and to Ionia County 
a few years later.
