Van GIESEN, GERTRUDE (CONNER) (MRS. FERRY A.):
   THE IONIA DAILY STANDARD, IONIA, MI, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1919:  "BRIEF MENTION.
 Mrs. Gertrude VanGiesen, wife of Ferry VanGiesen, died Monday evening at her
home in Orleans, at the age of forty.  Besides her husband she leaves three
children, also two sisters and two brothers.  The funeral announcement will be
made later."
   (Same issue of newspaper):  "Our neighborhood was shocked to hear of the
death of Mrs. Gertrude Van Giesen at her home on Monday evening.  Mrs. Van
Giesen had been critically ill for a week, and her recovery was doubtful from
the first.  "Gertie" as she was known to all, had many dear friends, beside
several relatives who will miss her greatly, and the heartfelt sympathy of all
is extended the grief-stricken family in their hour of deepest sorrow."
