SONYA SUE VANGORP

Died May 26, 2026-age 90 of Grand Rapids.
Born June 21, 1935 in Grand Rapids, daughter of Raymond & Margaret (Vandenberg) 
Marlett.
Sunny went to school at Grand rapids Central High Schooll graduating with the 
class of 1953.
Married Paul L VanGorp on November 13, 1954 in Grand Rapids,MI, raising 4 
children together. Paul predeceased her September 16, 2019.
She was a former member of Park Congregational Church where she taught Sunday 
School.
Survived by her sons, Patrick (Shannon) VanGorp of Lowell & Peter (Angel) 
VanGorp of Hudsonville.
Grandsons, Pierson & Lucas VanGorp of Hudsonville, Jordyn (Devin) Michalec of 
Lowell, Alex (Tashi) Lawson Zanstra of Grand Rapids and Jake (Alyssa) Lawson of 
Grand Rapids. Step great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lennon Michalec.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, daughter Paula Rance, son 
Phillip VanGorp and sister Cathy Marlett.
Cremation has taken place, family will have a private Celebration of Life;
Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home Saranac.
