The Portland Observer, Thursday, September 7, 1922
The death of Chas. E. VanHorn occurred at Lansing Tuesday, following an 
illness of several years.  The remains will be brought to Portland for burial, 
Friday.  

The late Mr. VanHorn was born in Portland about 70 years ago and had been a 
continuous resident of this place until five years ago when he moved to 
Lansing.  He was a brother of the late John W. VanHorn and the late Harriett 
Hazelton.  Besides the widow he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Anna Cady, of 
Lansing.

Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church at 2:00 Friday afternoon, in 
charge of Rev. Blewfield, and under the auspices of the Portland lodge of Odd 
Fellows.
