Clyde F. VanHouten, 56, pastor of Bethel Baptist church northeast of Stanton, died at his home near Edmore Monday after an illness of several months. He was born in Lake Odessa but had lived for many years in Edmore and its vicinity. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Buskirk of Edmore and Mrs. Carol Crooks of Stanton; one son, Smith VanHouten of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Greta Smalley of Perrinton; two brothers, Bernard VanHouten of Ionia and Glenn VanHouten of Coral. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday, central war time, in Bethel church. Burial will be in Vinewood cemetery, Edmore.
