Ionia Sentinel-Standard – Thurs. Oct. 30, 2008

David A. VanHouten, age 66, of Ionia, passed away Oct. 28, 2008 in Ionia.

He was born Aug. 4, 1942 in Ionia the son of C.W. and Ruth (Hopkins) VanHouten. 
David married Patricia Piercefield Sept. 14, 1963 in Ionia. He was a member of 
Zion United Methodist Church and NRA. He worked for Gen Corp for 18 years as a 
security guard and worked for 20 years in trailer sales. He was an avid 
outdoorsman who loved racing, fishing and hunting.

David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Patricia VanHouten of Ionia; 
children, Mark (Marion) VanHouten of Ionia and Becky (Dave) Nurenburg of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Katie VanHouten of Ionia and Nathan Palcowski of Ionia; great-
grandchild, Caleb VanHouten; brother, Dan (Bonnie) Ferguson of Fenwick; sister, 
Ruth Ann (Richard) Snaft of Florida and several brothers and sisters-in-law and 
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gordon VanHouten and Jerry VanHouten.

A memorial service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church 
with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Sunday 3-6 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may 
make memorial contributions in David’s name to Zion Food Pantry or Ionia Area
