Dec. 10, 2009 Phyllis Elaine VanHouten age 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. Phyllis was lovingly surrounded by her family and Pastor. She was born on March 13, 1932, the daughter of Archie and Gladys (Stevens) Martin. Phyllis married her loving husband, Gordon, on June 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Phyllis was a very special Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend. Her greatest love in life was her family, and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them all. Phyllis was a dedicated member of Easton United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and her Pastor, Nancy Patera. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her son, Steven (Dianne) VanHouten of Ionia; her daughter, Deborah (Terry) Stephens of Ionia; her grandchildren, Jamie (Gail) Stephens, Mindy (Mark) Braman, Chad ( Angela) VanHouten, Todd (Leslie) VanHouten and Troy VanHouten; her five beautiful great0granddaughters, Logan Stephens, Madeline Braman, Alexandria Stephens, Melayna Braman and Mackenzie VanHouten; her great-grandson Mason Braman and soon-to-arrive great-grandson Baby VanHouten. The family will receive friends at Easton United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m., Pastor Nancy Patera will be officiating the service. The Easton United Methodist Women will be providing a luncheon immediately following the funeral in the Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
