Lake Odessa Wave -Times - December 22, 1922
   Gertrude M. VanHouten, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. VanHouten,was born
in Sebewa township 
March 31, 1895 and died at Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, December 7, 1922, aged
27 years, 8 months and 
7 days.
   She moved with her parents to their present home when a small child.  In 1912 she
was baptized in the 
Christian faith and always lived a consistent Christian life.  She spent the Sunday
previous to her death with 
her parents.  She was not in the best of health but returned to her work in Grand
Rapids Tuesday her 
condition became alarming and she was taken to the hospital where in spite of the
best medical skill and 
experienced nursing, she passed away Thursday evening.  She realized her condition
was serious and 
expressed her joy in going to that Heavenly home.
   Her death is a shock to her parents and her many friends all os whom loved and
respected her.  She has 
gone to join the sister who preceded her four years ao and what is our loss is
Heaven's gain.

Lift up your hearts, beloved,
   Who weep o'er silent clay.
A glad new soul in Heaven
   Is rejoicing there, today.

A glad new soul in Heaven
   Who hears the angels sing 
And bends in holy rapture
   Before her Lord and King.

beautiful flowers at the time of the death of our beloved daughter, Gertrude M.
         Mr. and Mrs. D. W. VanHouten.
