Lake Odessa Wave - Times - November 19, 1920
   Seward LeRoy VanHouten, son of Delos and Priscilla VanHouten, was born in Odessa
township, December 
25, 1869.
   On September 9, 1897 he was united in marriage to Lelah Dell McDiarmid.  To this
union was born two 
daughters.
   He departed this life at his home, Nov. 7, 1920, age 50 years, 10 mo., 12 days.
   He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, two daughters, Opal and Gaylia, one
brother Archie, three sisters, 
Mrs. John Curtis, Mrs. Sam Snyder and Mrs. Oscar Gray.
   He was a kind and loving father and will be missed by a large circle of relatives
and friends.

Father is gone, we all shall miss him.
Morning, noon and night.
We can never feel so happy
Or make our home so bright.

Our family chain is broken,
Our golden link is gone,
And father's weary pilgrimage
Has now its victory won.

Gone to his home in Heaven,
So tired he could not rest,
To the ever watching, waiting,
To Him who knoweth best.
