August 8, 1987 LULA VANHOUTEN SUNFIELD-Lula Van Houten, 90, of 106 Main Street, Sunfield, died Thursday at her residence. Born May 1, 1897, in Sebewa Township, she was the daughter of Milo and Della McNeill. She was married on Aug.7, 1917, in Lake Odessa to LaVerne Van Houten. He died April 9 1959. For many years they managed the Farmer's Gas and Oil Station in Sunfield. She was a member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was the sunshine Chairman for many years. She was a member of the Sunfield Senior Citizens and the Sunfield Kitchen Band and also was an oil painter. Surviving are a son, Max, of Lake Odessa; a daughter, Vada Rosher of Mason; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the Mapes-Fisher Funeral Home Sunfield. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa. The family will be at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. A memorial has been established for the Sunfield United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral Home.
