Dortha Irene VanHouten, 86, of Ionia went to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 6,
2015.  She was born Oct 4, 1929, in Ionia, the daughter of Leon and Ida (Jack)
McQuillan.  Dortha was a 1947 graduate of Ionia High School, and later a
graduate of Elkhart Business School as a Registered Medical Secretary.  She
married Keith VanHouten in 1948, he preceded her in death in 2001.  She worked
for Ionia Hospital and later with Dr. Robert Smith in Ionia until her retirement
in 1986.

Dortha was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Ionia.  A past
Girl Scout and Brownie Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.  She loved to fish,
craft, plant flowers, paint and play cards.

She is survived by her children, Linda VanHouten of Long Beach, Washington, and
Michael (Pat) VanHouten of Muir.  Nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and
one great-great grandchild also survive.  She was preceded in death by her
husband, parents and one sister, Elaine.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Nov. 13, 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home
in Ionia with Pastor Ethan Tews officiating.  Interment at Balcom Cemetery. 
Visitation will be at the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. 
Those wishing many make contributions to First Christian Church in Ionia.
