She had been residing there for the past year, and was a patient at Hurley hospital for five weeks prior to her death. Mrs. VanHouten, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hay, pioneer residents of Woodbury, formerly lived at Woodland and Grand Rapids before coming here about 25 years ago. She and her sister the late Cora Hay lived together until the latter's death and several months later went to Flint Surviving are two sons Burr of Rocky River, Ohio and Gerald of Euclid, Ohio, a daughter Mrs. Jerry (Vesta) Dunn of Flint and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Pickens funeral chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. M. H. Dawson officiated.
