D. B. VAN NORNUM
IONIA - D. B. VanNornum, 93, of Ionia died Saturday, Jan. 7, 1995, at Ionia manor.

Born May 20, 1901, in Ronald Township, he was the son of N. J. and Lena Storum 
VanNornum. He attended Mattison School and was married to the former Myrtle Lemke on
March 2, 1922, in Ionia county. She died in July 1972. 

He married the former Ethel Griffin in !973, and she preceded him in death on March
4, 1990. He was a life-long Ionia area resident.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic and operated his own repair business . He was a
member of Palo United Methodist Church and was a  member of the Ionia Rock and
Mineral Club. While a resident of Congress, Ariz.,  he was actively involved in the study of
Indian culture.

He is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Donald) Funkey of Ionia; six grandchildren,
Craig Stackus, Cheryl Brandt, Leslee Wiltjer, Julie Davis; 15 great-grandchildren; two
step-daughters, Lorraine (Herman ) Smith and Patricia Robinson, both of Ionia; several
step-grand and great-grandchildren.

A daughter Charlotte Stackus, preceded him in death in 1959.

Funeral and committal service will be Monday at 2 pm. from Cook Funeral home, the
Rev. Howard Harvey of Palo United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7  to 8:30 p.m.

Memorials have been established for Palo United Methodist Church and the Multiple 
Sclerosis foundation, in care of the funeral home.
