DARLENE G. VAN OCKER
Darlene G. Van Ocker, age 84, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home in 
Greenville under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan. She was 
born Aug. 23, 1931 in Ionia, the daughter of Glen and Ivah (Gates) Ackerson.

On Oct. 30 1953, she married Kirmeth "Chum" Van Ocker in Palo. She retired in 
1986 from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company after 36 years of employment. 
She was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church in Greenville, and was 
previously a member of First Baptist Church.

Darlene was preceded in death by  her husband, Chum, in 2004. She was also 
preceded in death by her siblings, Glenn Ackerson, Louie Ackerson, Lorraine 
Barrett, Edward Ackerson, Donald Ackerson, and James Ackerson.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Ackerson of Ionia, Adebel Ackerson 
of Greenville, and Karen Ackerson of Fenwick; many nieces, nephews, great-
nieces, and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Faith Baptist 
Church with Darlene's pastor, Rev. Robert Winter, officiating. Visitation was 
Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Private interment will be in 
East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be give to Faith Baptisr 
Church, and memories and messages of condolence may be shard at www.hrstfh.com
