Frank N. VanPelt died Tuesday morning at four o’clock. He had been in very poor health for more than a year past, gradually growing weaker. Recently he was taken with hemorrhage which attack hastened his death. Mr. VanPelt was elected city treasurer two years ago and re-elected for the present year which will expire in April. He was born in Renselar county, N.Y., and came to this city in 1890 and worked in the furniture factory until two years ago when his health began to fail. The deceased had many friends among all classes in the city. His wife, whom he married here five years ago, survives him and she has the sympathy of the entire community. Mr. VanPelt made a strong fight against the inevitable and met it bravely. He was in the 46th year of his age, was a member of the I.O.F. in which order he carried a death benefit for $1,000 in favor of his wife. A daughter 17 years old by his first wife resides in Lansigburg, N.Y., with relatives. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the Congregational church under charge of the Foresters, Rev. B.V. Child officiating. It was largely attended and his remains were laid to rest in River Ridge cemetery. Floral offerings were beautiful from the furniture factory boys, the Forester Lodge and ladies of the Social Circle. Mrs. VanPelt’s father from Marshall and her brothers and wives from Ionia were present.
