Born Sept. 28, 1897, in Grand Rapids, he was the son of Robert and Fredrika Dozema Van Polen. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Marie) Calveneau of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Lester (Eunice) Vander Till of Grandville and Mrs. Frieda Wright of Eagle. His wife and one daughter preceded him in death. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and eight brothers: Gerriet of Portland, Cornell of Grand Haven, Jake of Jamestown, Mich.; Clarence of Dorr, Mich.; John of Tucson, Ariz.; William of Marion, Mich.; Robert of Grand Rapids, and Richard of Grandville. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home, Portland with the Rev. Julius Vigh of Portland Christian Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.
