Lake Odessa Wave - April 22, 1976
          SERVICES HELD FOR DORIS VANSICLEN
   Mrs. Doris M. VanSicleln, 76 passed away late Sunday night at Pennock Hospital
where she was hospitalized 
since April 8.
   She was born at Langston, September 12, 1899, the daughter of Frank and Catherine
(Klepfer) Snyder and 
had been a resident of the Lake Odessa area since she was two year old.
   She attended the Lake Odessa school and had been employed by at the Lake Odessa
Canning Company for 
many years before retiring.
   Mrs. VanSiclen was a member of the Blue Star Mothers, the Lesky-Dulek Chapter No.
29 of the Disabled 
American Veterans (DAV) of Ionia and the Auxiliary of the Lake Odessa and
Clarksville VFW Pot.
   She married Clark VanSiclen July 17, 1918, at Lake Odessa and he passed away
February 20, 1961.
   Surviving are four sons, Elwood and Leland of Lake Odessa, Arza of Bay City and
Eugene of Portland: eight 
daughters, Lucille at home, Mrs. David (Catherine) Roy of Cullman, Ala., Mrs. Ken
(Fedora) Nasset of Saginaw, 
Mrs. Leon (Frances) Miller of Lowell, Mrs. Elmer (Eulah) Gostnell of Lake Odessa,
Mrs. Dale (Clara) Haney of 
Sheridan, Mrs. John (Martha) Shockey of Ionia and Mrs. Clifford (Marsha) Fox of Lake
Odessa; 73 grand and 
great grandchildren. a brother, Pete Snyder of Ventura. Calif., and a sister, Mrs.
Sarah Dempsey of Detroit.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the Picken-Koops Funeral Chapel
with burial in Lakeside 
Cemetery.  Rev. Richard Sessink officiated.
