October 7, 1921 MRS. ELIZABETH VANSICLEN GONE HOME MRS. ELIZABETH VANSICLEN LAID TO REST IN LAND THAT WAS ONCE HER HOME Mrs.Elizabeth VanSiclen who was Miss Doty, was one of the people here when the town was started. She saw the railroad put through, the mills built up and the stores erected. Then the resort and the later enterprises of the village. The land for the village cemetery was purchased from her father. She was a quiet little woman of trustful Christian faith and in her eighty years was simply waiting to go home. She had reared her children, performed her part of the world's usefulness and was ready. She was quietly laid to rest on the land that was once her girlhood home. At the age of ten years, she moved with her parents, Mr.and Mrs.Wm.Doty, to Barry County,Michigan and spent nearly all of her life in this vicinity, just over the line from Odessa township. She was a kind wife and mother, a good neighbor, always ready to do her duty.
