VanTifflin, 83, passed away late Saturday night at the Osteopathic Hospital in Grand Rapids, a shot time after admittance. He was born October 1, 1885, in Swartz Creek and had been a resident of Lake Odessa about 50 years, coming here from Hastings. Mr. VanTifflin was employed as superintendent of the Lake Odessa Canning Co. for a number of years, a director of the company, and a retired carpenter and electrician. A member of the United Methodist Church and Adult Fellowship of the church, he was a life member of Lake Odessa F&AM No. 395 and a member of Lake Odessa Chapter No., 315, OES. Surviving are his wife, Luna; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Wilma) VanTifflin of Houston,, Texas; two stepsons, Clare Pickens of Lake Odessa and Arlo Pickens of Lansing; a granddaughter, Mrs. Rosemary Carpenter of Houston, Texas; 10 step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His son Richard passed away in 1961. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
