          SERVICES HELD FOR LUNA VANTIFFLIN

   Mrs. Luna F. VanTifflin, 80, passed away Thursday evening at the M. J. Clark
Home, Grand Rapids, where 
she had resided about a year.

   She was born August 24, 1890 in Sebewa township, daughter of William and Anna
(Griffin) Sweitzer and 
was a lifelong resident of the area.  She was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School
and Western Michigan 
College and taught in the rural schools before accepting a position in the Lake
Odessa school system where 
she taught 35 years before her retirement.

   He first husband, Orvin Pickens passes away October 30, 1918.  On April 11, 1946
she married George 
VanTifflin who passed away November 30, 1968.

   Mrs. VanTifflin was a member of Central United Methodist church,, Adult
Fellowship and the WSCS of the 
church, Lake Odessa Chapter No. 315 Order of the Eastern Star and the Retired
Teachers Association. 

   Surviving are two sons, Clare C. Pickens of Lake Odessa and Arlo W. Pickens of
Lansing; ten grandchildren; 
three great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mrs. Galen (Evelyn) Chapin of Southfield;
and a foster sister, Mrs. Gus 
(Etta) Boek of Minneapolis, Minn.

   Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:30 at Pickens Funeral Chapel. Rev.
Marvin Zimmerman officiated 
with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
