Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. March 18, 1976

LAKE ODESSA- Roy VanTubergen, 82, of 767 Lake View drive, Lake Odessa, died 
Thursday morning at the Brookcrest Nursing home at Grandville where he had been 
a patient since August 19, 1975.

Born at Maxwell, N. M., June 2, 1893, he was the son of James and Rena 
VanBruggen VanTubergen.

August 1925 he was married to Ruth Rible at Luther and she died December 29, 
1970.

He had been a resident of Lake Odessa the past eight years coming here from 
Middleville.

A veteran of World War I he had served with the infantry in France. He was a 
member of the Lake Odessa Christian Reformed church.

He was employed as a millright for a furniture company in Grand Rapids retiring 
25 years ago.

Among his survivors are a stepson, Clayton Goodrich, stepdaughter, Florence 
Goodrich, both of Lake Odessa; two step grandchildren, and a brother, Theodore 
VanTurbergen of Grand Rapids.

Services will be Saturday at 1:30 pm at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at 
Lake Odessa. Interment will be at the Lakeside cemetery.
