Daily Sentinel - Thursday, Nov. 15, 1906

James VanValkenburg was born in Lakeville, Livingston county, N. Y., March 18, 1824,

and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Paris Rathbun, in this village Thursday 
November 8, 1906, age 82 years. He came to Michigan about 40 years ago and has since

lived in the vicinity of Muir. For the past five years he has made his home with is

sister in the village. The funeral was held from the house, Sunday, Rev. V. K. 
Boshgetoor officiating, interment in Oakwood cemetery. He leaves one brother in
Alma, 
Mich., and the sister who has cared for him for the past five years, to mourn his
loss.
