June 29, 2013 MaryAnn (Purchis) Vargo, 79, beloved mother, Nana, sister and aunt, moved to heaven on June 26, 2013, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was at home with family and friends at her side following a courageous battle against evil cancer. She was born April 3, 1934, in Petoskey, the daughter of Allen and Pearl (Moser) Purchis. MaryAnn was preceded in death by Joseph, her husband of 30 years, in 1983. She also joins in eternity her parents, her brothers Roland, Allen and Harvey, and sisters Donna and Ila. MaryAnn was an active member of Berlin Center United Methodist Church in Saranac and in partnership with many Christian ministries. Even through her illness she kept in touch with her church family as much as she could. MaryAnn is survive by her children, Jan Vargo of Fowler, Nancy (Mike) Davenport of St. Johns, Margi (Wayne) Scherer of Washington, Glenn (Pam) Cornelise of North Carolina, Karen (Andrew) Brown-Luetchford of Toronto, and daughter-niece Fayette (Larry) Waligorski; brother, Ira (Ann) Purchis of Lansing; sister, Patricia Mather of Florida; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. MaryAnn was greatly loved and will be missed by the multitude of lives she touched. Visitation will be held at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Lake Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Sundell officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan B.
