Wave, Thurs. May 21, 1970 Clara M. Varney Passes Away Mrs. Clara M. Varney, 61, of Woodland, passed away Monday afternoon at Pennock Hospital, Hastings, where she had been a patient since late March. She was born near Eaton Rapids, July 18, 1908, daughter of Eddie and Lily (Surme) Taylor, Oct. 18, 1924, she married George Varney of Woodland and all their married life was spent in the Woodland area. He passed away Oct. 14, 1969. Mrs. Varney had been employed at the J.W. Knapp Co. in Lansing for 17 years until her illness. She attended the United Methodist Church of Woodland and was a member of the WSCS of the church. Surviving are four daughters, Ms. Orville (Virginia) Decker and Mrs. Ross (Dorothy) Krebs of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Keith (Mary) Morris of Hastings and Mrs. Rodney (Georgia) Jordan of Grand Ledge; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Taylor of Zephyrhills, Fla.; Vernon of Potterville and Paul of Lansing; also two sisters, Ms. Robert (Orpha) Koop and Mrs. Velma Taylor, both of Zephyrhills, Fla. Funeral services were held at 1:30 Thursday (today) at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Woodland Memorial Park. Rev. George Wingard of Cedar Springs officiated.
