She was born in England and came to the United States when six months of age. She was the daughter of the late James and Marrian Horrocks and she lived on old M-21 in Ionia township until she was married February 6, 1886 to Fremont Varnum of McBrides. For the past several years she has lived with her son Clyde D. Varnum of Toledo. Surviving are two sons Clyde of Toledo and Roy of St. Louis, Mo., a daughter Mrs. Mabel Freyer of Evanston, Illinois; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. James Howden of Vestaburg, brother James Horrocks of Boyne City.
