Ionia Daily Standard, 11 Feb 1899

Charles P. Vaughan, hallmaster at the S.H. of C. died on Friday afternoon.  He 
had been ailing for several weeks, but not until a few days ago did his illness 
take on an alarming phase, his attack of la grippe becoming complicated with 
nervous troubles.  The notice of death came as a shock to his fellow workmen at 
the state institution, where he was highly regarded for his stable and affable 
qualities.  Deceased came to Ionia some four years ago, during which time he 
filled the responsible position of hallmaster at S.H. of C., and only last 
summer was most happily married to Mrs. Ida Abbott.  The funeral will be on 
Monday morning at 10 o’clock, at the home, East Main St.  Interment in Highland 
Park.
