Vaughn of this village. Mrs. Vaughn had been in feeble health for some time and had reached the advanced age of nearly 89 years. She was born in Warnertown, NY, the town which was settled by her ancestors in the early days of the country's history and which was named after the Warner family. She was a direct descendant of Capt. George Warner, who served so faithfully during the Revolutionary War, and who was always active in affairs for his country's good. Mrs. Vaughn's life until recent years, when ill health prevented, was one of service. She was a most devoted wife and mother, to others. Her patriotism was unbounded and even during the last week of her stay with us, she inquired several times for news of the war, and every day inquired if the flag had been hung out. Perhaps her greatest pleasure in recent years was, when in Chicago four years ago, she was privileged to cast her first vote on the side of those principles which she believed to be right, upon this occasion receiving special mention in the newspapers, owing to her advanced years. And so, with such a long life well spent, though her loss to her family is keenly felt, none can but rejoice for her that she has entered into the larger fuller experience which awaits the weary pilgrim at the end of a long journey. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by three sons: Levi S. of this village, Col. B. of Stanton, Charles G. of Colorado, and one daughter, Mrs. Harry A. Wales of Chicago. There are also several grandchildren who will ever cherish her memory."
