Vaughn, 77, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Brandner, 321 Union street, Monday night, following a short illness. She was born in Indiana January 1, 1858, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hopkins. She was married to George H. Abbott, in Indiana in 1877 and they came that year to Ionia where she has resided ever since. After Mr. Abbott’s death she was married in 1898 to Charles P. Vaughn, who died the following year. Since Mr. Vaughn’s death she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Brandner. She was a life member of the Eastern Star and also a member of St. John’s Episcopal church. She was one of the first members of that church and could well remember the building of the brick church building. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carl Brandner, with whom she resided; one grandson, George Brandner, Ionia; and two nieces, Mrs. A.W. Black and Miss Julia Fox, both of Bay City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 from the Brandner home, 321 Union street, with Rev. Fr. Edwin G. White, rector of St. John’s Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery.
