The Ionia Daily Standard, Thursday, November 8, 1917

Mrs. Mattie Veazy died Wednesday at the City Hospital, where she was taken for 
operation last week at the request of her husband, John L. Veazy.  Her case 
was brought into probate court, and an order secured admitting her to the 
University Hospital at Ann Arbor for treatment, but the desire of the family 
was to have her treated in a private hospital.  She was 41 years old, and 
leaves five children, ranging from 5 to 18 years old.  Death was attributed to 
dilation of the heart.  The funeral will be held at 2:00 o’clock tomorrow 
afternoon at Bradley’s mortuary, Rev. J. S. Deabler officiating.
