The township of Woodland was considerably shocked last Wednesday evening to learn of the death of Geo. Velte, a brother of Mrs.Summ with whom he had made his home for years. The man had climbed to the top of the windmill to oil the machinery when in some way he fell to the ground. It is not known what caused the fall, nobody saw him fall and they knew of it only when he struck the earth. His sister immediately rushed to his side, but she could be of no assistance for after a few gasps he was gone. Mr.Velte was 57 years of age and a bachelor. He was well known and liked in the vicinity of his home and his death was the cause of much grief. The deceased was a cousin of Samuel Velte, cashier of the Farmers & Merchants bank of this place.
