Sentinel-Std. - Saturday, May 13, 1922

John VerPorter, who was injured in the clay pit belonging to the Ionia Pottery 
company, near the hospital, Wednesday, passed away Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. 
at the Reeds Lake Sanitarium. The funeral will be held from the church of SS. 
Peter and Paul Monday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will take  place in Mt. 
Olivet cemetery. Mr. VerPorter was injured Wednesday while lifting a large 
chunk of clay into a wagon. The clay, which broke in two parts, struck him in 
the abdomen. His family were called to Grand Rapids on Thursday.
