Julianna E. Verstraete, 83, Greenville, formerly of Detroit, died Wednesday,
Aug. 14, 1996, at her home.  She was born June 19, 1913, to Victor and Emma
Moody Platjouw in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada.

She was married to Paul Verstraete in Detroit on July 25, 1936.  He preceded her
in death on Jan. 15, 1964.

Mrs. Verstraete lived most of her life in Detroit before moving to Greenville in
1987.  She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Detroit, and a lifetime
member of the Alter Society.

She is survived by one brother, James Platjouw of Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada;
and friend, Betty J. Palmer of Greenville.  She was preceded in death by her
parents, Victor and Emma Platjouw; her husband, Paul Verstraete; and one
brother, Joseph Platjouw.

Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson
City with Rev. Roger Burk officiating.  Interment was in West Side Cemetery,
Hubbardston.  Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
