Deceased was born in Albany county, New York, on September 28, 1827, and was of a family of twelve children, six of whom, four sisters and two brothers, survive him. He was married in 1853 to Catharine Millard of Berlin, New York, and moved to Michigan in 1865, and settled near Fowler. In 1881 he moved to Lyons village, purchasing the farm known as the Crosby homestead three years later. He has been a faithful and consistent member of the Seventh Day Adventist church for the past 27 years, being associated with the Lyons church of that denomination for 22 years. He leaves a wife and a daughter, Mrs. D.A. Reynolds of New York city, two other children having passed over before him. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and was ever ready to help a friend in need. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home, being conducted by Rev. H.E. Wylie of the Methodist church. Interment in the Lyons cemetery.
