Ionia Standard, 13 May 1904

The funeral service for Mrs. Clara A. Vincent was attended by a large concourse 
of friends and neighbors, and a large representation of the W.R.C., of which 
she was a member.  Rev. W.B. Taylor read a portion of scripture and offered 
prayer.  The discourse by Rev. W.H. Scott was a most deserving tribute to the 
departed one, and most comforting to the mourning friends.  He spoke eloquently 
and sympathetically.  She was a member of the Church of Christ and a woman 
respected by all who knew her.  In her death her children have lost a tender 
and affectionate mother.  May the God of all consolation comfort the bereaved 
ones and finally unite them where life and joy shall be uninterrupted and 
endless.  

“O, Morning Land,” “Some Day We’ll Understand,” and “Good Night” were sweetly 
rendered by Miss Frances Yates and Mrs. Willis Peck, Miss Mildred Beals acting 
as accompanist.  The floral tributes were many and beautiful, testifying to the 
esteem in which deceased was held.  The pall bearers were Gilbert Yates, Joel 
R. Benedict, W.T. Remington, and E.W. McCoy.  The remains were interred in the 
family lot in Highland Park cemetery.

Mrs. Vincent was born in Otsego county, N.Y., and came to Ionia in 1864.  She 
was one of a family of 14.  She leaves to mourn her death 2 children: Mrs. Cora 
G. Coates, Detroit, and Mrs. Anna B. Curtis of this city; an aged mother, Mrs. 
Anna S. Scott, Fly Creek, N.Y.; two brothers, Merrick Scott, Susquehanna, 
Penn., and Leon Scott, Fly Creek, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Bine Sutherland, and 
Mrs. Anna Lathrop, Herkimer, N.Y.
