Hasting's Reminder - Saturday May 10, 2025

VIRGINIA LOUISE VIPOND, age 95, formerly of Lake Odessa,MI passed away on 
Saturday March 29, 2025. She was born on December 20th, 1929, to Hugh and 
Mildred (Sawyer) Austin in Howell, MI.Virginia married Max LeRoy Vipond on April 
29, 1949, at the Trout Festival in Kalkaska, MI with 5,000 people in attendance; 
Mayor Paul Goebel of Grand Rapids gave away the bride.

After raising her children, Virginia enjoyed a career as a registered 
psychiatric nurse and was retired from Pine Rest Christian Hospital in Grand 
Rapids. She was a faithful member of St.Edwards Catholic Church in Lake 
Odessa,MI, where she served in many ministries, including coordinator of 
religious education.

Virginia will be forever cherished by her family: sons,Martin(Ellen) Vipond, 
Bruce (Beth) Vipond and Fred Vipond; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 
great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Judith,Keith and Gerald, along with many 
nieces and nephews.

Preceding Virginia in death were her parents; husband, Max; daughter Virginia 
Lee; daughter, Alice Marie; son, Steven James and siblings,George,Don, Ruby, 
Roger and Joanne.

Visitation is planned at Koops Funeral Chapel on May 9, 2025, from 4 until 8 
p.m.; the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 
celebrated at St.Edward Catholic Church,Lake Odessa, on May 10, 2025 at 11 a.m., 
with luncheon following in the Family Center.

Donations in Virginia's name may be given to St.Edward Catholic Church's 
education program.
